Hi,

I'm sorry you're having these installation issues.  I can understand the frustration.

There's actually several types of Flash Player, depending on the browser.  ActiveX for Internet Explorer and NSPlugin for non-IE browsers (e.g. Firefox, etc). and the Pepper plugin which is integrated into the Chrome browser.  The download page (get.adobe.com/flashplayer) uses the user agent string information to identify the OS and browser and download the Flash Player type for the OS/browser combination (ActiveX or NSPlugin, as the Pepper plugin is distributed by Google via Chrome).  Since you used Internet Explorer to download the online installer, it installed Flash Player for Internet Explorer and not the Plugin for Firefox.  There's another page, get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions, that allows you to select the OS and Player type to download.

I know you've been dealing with this installation issue for several days, but if you could bear with me and run the online installer from the command-line in debug mode to obtain the install log file, I'd really appreciate it. Here's the instructions for obtaining the log file:

  1. Download the installer from get.adobe.com/flashplayerand save it to the desktop (again, the player type downloaded depends on the OS/browser combination, to download for a specific browser to go get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions)
  2. Launch the command prompt, click the Start orb and in the search field, type: cmd.exe
  3. When the command prompt utility launches, drag the installer from the desktop onto the command prompt window hit space key and type /debug
    • It should look similar to (the actual file name may differ): C:\Users\labuser\Desktop\install_flashplayer14x32_mssd_aaa_aih.exe /debug
      • Note there is a space between the file name and the / and there is no space between / and debug
  4. Click Enter to proceed
  5. A file named host.develop.log will be saved to the same location the installer was saved to
    • You may notice the the online installer file is missing. This is because it deletes itself once executed, so it will no longer be saved locally.
  6. Post the contents of the host.develop.log file here in your response, or share the file following the How to share a documentinstructions.

If you'd rather just get Flash Player installed, here are the links to the offline installer, which should install Flash Player successfully:

Windows: Flash Player ActiveX (Internet Explorer)

Windows: Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)

Thanks in advance.
